More from our President:

HIP HIP HOO-RAY- What a wonderful day! -

OK –so I’m bragging, and WHY NOT?

Our Centenary Championship show was all we had hoped for and planned for.

A record entry and so many people, we thought we might have to stack them as well as the dogs.

Who ever said Charlie’s were an endangered breed.

There was a real party atmosphere; everyone seemed to be enjoying the day.

The food was good –both the Hot meal and the buffet. With Cake and wine to follow.

The exhibitors were delighted with their extra prizes courtesy of John Castle. The Special Catalogue and year book were impressive and will I am sure be saved as souvenirs of this ‘Once in a lifetime occasion’

Congratulations must go to all the committee for putting on a great show, but special thanks must go to our Secretary and show manager- Gill and Steve Smith who carried most of the load, especially as Gill has been far from well, for a long time.

As well as the pleasures of the day I also had two lovely surprises, an enormous bouquet, which both Barbara and I received, and the gift of a lovely rose bowl from John Castle. This is the ‘Zenda’ Rose bowl given in 1924 its engraved with all the B.O.B winners right through to 1954,when Molly won it out right after winning three years in a row with CH Sweet Memory of Oakridges.

Eventually I would like this bowl to join the Northern Cup Collection But for the time being it stays with me –"Thank you John". I shall enjoying having this piece of Charlie history

It was a pleasure to be able to sit and watch the Judging (you don’t get to see much from the Kitchen counter)

It was a long tiring day for our Judge Mr Eddie Plews, with so many large classes, but he calmly worked his way through to find his winners.

The results are already on the Web .I believe Margaret Mallows put them on the same evening we owe thanks to Margaret and Sue Loynd for dragging us into the 21st Century and setting up our Web site .I believe this is already getting a lot of use.

And finally:

Dear God- thank you for a perfect day

Sincerely Doreen Cooper

PRESIDENTS NOTES

As the newly appointed President, of The Northern King Charles Spaniel Club-perhaps a few facts, on our newly acquired web site might be of interest.

I have served on the committee over 30 years-and the members who have attended our northern shows will know that I have served in the kitchen for the same length of time. It as been suggested, I hang up my "pinny". I shall however be keeping custody of the frying pan.

It was our late and sadly missed President Mrs. Mollie Castle, who persuaded me to stand for the committee. I certainly never expected to still be there 30 years later.

The club as grown by leaps and bounds over this time, membership as more than doubled.

Our dedicated, officers and committee have been working hard to make our centenary Championship show on 21st April a day to remember, we have extra classes with lots of special prizes, loads of goodies, including free lunch to all members. Look out for our open show in October.

Our first yearbook in colour will also be ready for our members to collect.

We look forward to seeing you all. Thank you for your loyalty, and for your generous support for this special year.

Dear God! please do not let it rain.

Yours Sincerely

Doreen Cooper
